Raymond K. Daley Award

For many years, Raymond Daley contributed to the town of Willington in the areas of conservation, forestry and on other environmental issues. In order to recognize individuals or organizations whose own actions contribute to the improvement of the town’s environment, and to honor Mr. Daley, the Willington Conservation Commission established the Daley Award in 1991. Such efforts should involve some sustained or ongoing activity or entail some contribution providing long-lasting benefits to the environment which can be observed and appreciated by a significant number of Willington citizens.

Recognized contributions might include:

  • Physical improvement or maintenance of some aspect of the town’s environment
  • Initiation of or significant participation in the continuation of a program of positive environmental consequence
  • Promotion of environmental awareness in educational or political arenas
  • Contribution of personal resources or significant effort that leads to the preservation of open space
  • Contribution of personal resources or significant effort that enhances natural or developed environmentally significant areas

The Willington Conservation Commission will select a recipient on a yearly basis. The award may be given to an individual or organization on more than one occasion. It is possible that in some years the award will not be given.
