Board of Finance Special Meeting Minutes 7/5/17 - CORRECTED

Also Present: Christina Mailhos, First Selectman; Donna Latincsics, Business Manager; members of the public.

Chairman Jim Bulick called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

Seating of Alternates

John Patton motioned to seat Annemarie Poole for Robert Wiecenski, Geoff Prusak seconded.  All were in favor, motion carried.

Present to Speak

Robert Jellen, Lucern Drive, Chairman of the Willington Democratic Town Committee, spoke of his party's nomination of Laurie Semprebon to fill the vacant seat as alternate on the Willington Board of Finance.

New Business  

Appointment of an Alternate Member to the Board of Finance to fill the vacancy left by the 5-June-2017 promotion of Geoff Prusak to a Regular Member.  The appointment will be by majority vote, and will be for the period until the next election in November 2017

Chairman Bulick explained that since the vacant alternate position was held by a member associated with the Sentinel Party, they will have the first chance at endorsing a candidate for our board's consideration. If the board does not accept the proposed candidate, he will open up the endorsements to the other parties in town, which both have submitted candidates for consideration."

Barry Wallett motioned to nominate Mary Bowen fill the Alternate Member position, John Patton sseconded, vote was unanimous.

This becomes effective once Mary Bowen is sworn in by the Town Clerk.

  • Letter received from Barry J Wallett, Chairman, A Sentinel Party, endorsing Mary Bowen as candidate to fill the alternate vacancy.
  • Letter received from  Robert Jellen, Chairman of the Willington Democratic Town Committee, endorsing Laurie Semprebon as candidate to fill the alternate vacancy.
  • Letter received from John Blessington, Secretary of the Willington Republican Town Committee, endorsing  Robert Testa as candidate to fill the alternate vacancy.

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 7:07 p.m.
