SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES to FILL BOARD VACANCY

Also Present: Erika Wiecenski, 1st selectman; Donna Latincsics, Business Manager; Tish Ignatowicz, Treasurer; members of the public.
Call to Order
Chairman Jim Bulick called the meeting to order at 7:03 pm.
Seating of Alternate (if needed)
Peter Tanaka was unexpectedly absent. First Selectman Wiecenski informed the Board that the Town Ordinance for the purpose of filling the vacancy states that all six regular members have to be present.
Chairman Bulick read the actual law that says the remaining members can vote for an alternate. He suggested that we vote and if it’s not correct we can call another meeting.
Barry Wallett motioned to seat Bill Rankin for Peter Tanaka, Mike Makuch seconded. All were in favor, motion carried.
New Business
Appointment of a Board of Finance Alternate Member, filling the vacancy left when the term held by Republican Annemarie Poole expired on November 21, 2017. The appointment ends at the next municipal election on November 5, 2019.
Chairman Bulick said that he only received one candidate endorsement via letter from Secretary John Blessington of the Willington Republicans: Fred Schoen.
Barry Wallett motioned to seat Fred Schoen as alternate to fill the vacancy till the next municipal election, Mike Makuch seconded. Laurie Semprebon abstained. All others were in favor, motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
